Nemont Wireless Network Upgrade

In our effort to provide the best possible wireless experience, Nemont is investing in a new cellular network. We have installed new systems in our central office and will be installing new equipment at each cell site. This new equipment will improve our network allowing it to efficiently process more calls and allow us to offer new networking technologies and services. After the upgrade is completed, Nemont will offer new features, including high-speed mobile data to enhance your wireless experience.

Mobile Data

Faster mobile data will be the most noticeable improvement. Speeds will improve significantly. Nemont customers will see speeds comparable to what major carriers offer, while Nemont’s local coverage will continue to far exceed that of competitors. Mobile data will not be a suitable replacement for DSL. Speeds will depend on site usage and will not exceed 1.5 mbps; actual speeds may be significantly lower.

Nemont mobile data will continue to be available locally only for the near future. Nationwide data will be implemented after the network conversion is complete.

Coverage

Coverage will remain about the same. Geographical barriers will still exist. Most customers will not notice a significant improvement, but coverage will not degrade.

Roaming coverage will not change, and customers can expect great coverage throughout the US.

Handsets

Existing handsets will continue to work. Customers don’t need to change anything. Newer Ev-DO handsets should automatically detect the new network. Handsets that are not Ev-DO compatible can continue to use 1X data.

Nemont will continue to launch new Android smartphones. Nemont will not offer Blackberry or iPhones.

Billing

Customers will not notice a change on the bills they receive. Prices will not increase.

Service Interruptions

Customers may experience some brief service interruptions and dropped calls during the conversion. There will be a brief outage at each site when it is converted from the old to new equipment. All sites will be converted during the maintenance window, which runs from midnight until 5:00 a.m., in order to minimize customer impact.

During the conversion period, our legacy cellular network will not “hand off” to our new cell network. This means that during the conversion, you may drop a call if you travel from one site to another. If this happens, you will be able to immediately place the call again and continue with your conversation. You will only notice this issue when you are moving.
