Lifeline

Montana & Wyoming

Montana and Wyoming customers certified by the Montana Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services to receive Medical benefits, are eligible for the telephone assistance program. If you qualify, you will receive a discount each month on your telephone bill. The discount applies to either the main home telephone line or Nemont cell phone line listed in the name of the qualified customer. Please note, only one discount may be applied per eligible Lifeline customer.

North Dakota

You are eligible for Lifeline if you participate in any of the following programs:

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • Medicaid
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Food Stamps
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8)
  • Temporary Assistance Program
  • Head Start Programs
  • National School Lunch Program (Free Lunch Program)

Link-Up

Link-Up America Telephone Assistance Program consists of a 50% discount, up to a maximum of $30 for telephone service connection charges.

Enhanced Lifeline

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established the Enhanced Lifeline program to provide discounts on monthly charges to qualified telephone customers living within the boundaries of an Indian reservation.

Enhanced Lifeline reduces local phone service to $1.00 per month for income eligible customers living within the boundaries of an Indian reservation. The customer is responsible for any taxes, fees, or additional services.

To qualify for Enhanced Lifeline, subscribers living within the boundaries of an Indian reservation must participate in one or more of the following:

  • Medicaid
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
  • Tribally Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TTANF)
  • Head Start (income-qualifying standard)
  • The National School Lunch Program's Free Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Food Stamps
  • Supplemental Security Income Benefits (SSI)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8)
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)

Enhanced Link-Up America assists qualified, low-income customers living within the boundaries of an Indian reservation by providing a discount on telephone service connection charges. (Inside wiring and jacks do not apply.)
