As a democratically controlled cooperative, Nemont's commitment is to reinvest in its member communities—a principle exemplified by this donation. Nemont's 75th Annual Meeting saw a huge turnout of 580 attendees, who received bill credits and had chances to win a 2024 Wolverine Side-by-Side and a PlayStation 5 Pro. Key agenda items included the election of Board Directors, with Matt Stentoft joining for District 1, Tracy O'Connor retaining his District 2 seat, and Gail Fast continuing for District 3. The meeting also announced CEO Mike Kilgore's retirement after 20 years, with Josh Jensen set to succeed him by December 1st. The article notes that “[o]f all towns with more than 1,000 residents, Glasgow, home to 3,363 people in the rolling prairie of northeastern Montana, is farthest — about 4.5 hours in any direction — from any metropolitan area.” Nearby Scobey and Wolf Point – also in Sagebrush’s service area – round out the top three “hardest to reach” small towns in the nation.

In August 2019, FCC staff—in consultation with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Department of Veteran Affairs, and the North American Numbering Council—released a report recommending the use of 988 as the 3-digit code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. In July 2020, the FCC adopted rules designating this new phone number for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. The transition, which will take place over the next two years, will result in phone service providers directing all 988 calls to the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline by July 16, 2022.
